11th Grade Research

The main research that I conducted in 11th grade was my novel research project. I set out with the goal of evaluating the effects of a herb called Mojave yucca on the progression of early onset of Huntington's Disease (HD). Below is the background paper, experimental design, and data that has been collected so far. This research taught me so much when it came to scientific research. I was forced to keep to a strict schedule, log all my work, and make sure that I was accurate with everything that I was to do. This molded me into a better scientist and pushed me to be the best I could.

As of now (4/3), I just finished data collection and and yet to analyze the results from my data through the Mann-Whitney test. Once that is done, all results will be uploaded.

Overall, I was very content with the research project this year. Though I was happy with the progress that was made, if I could make a change, I would develop different levels of healthy dosage and them implement all of them on drosophilae to evaluate the effect on flies with HD. Along with this, I would want to expand my research into other fields such as Alzheimers and more.
